Call for papers:
Papers are invited on the following topics:
1. Biomass resources: production, pre-treatment, supply
and logistics for feedstock from forestry, agriculture, animal residues
and processing industry
2. Research and development of bioenergy conversion technology
systems: combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, biological conversion
and liquid fuels production (biodiesel, ethanol, direct/indirect
liquefaction)
3. Demonstration and market implementation of bioenergy in the
heat and electricity sector.
4. Demonstration and market implementation of bioenergy in the
transportation sector.
5. Combined application of biomass for energy, products and climate
protection: chemicals, timber, afforestation, Joint Implementation
and Clean Development Mechanism projects, international biofuels
trade, carbon trading.
6. Strategy and policy issues: challenges and opportunities
to support the EU Policies and Directives, the Kyoto Protocol, certificates,
national and local regulations, globalisation and liberalisation,
industry policies, security of energy supply
7. Biomass in the developing world: sustainable biomass use,
poverty alleviation, rural development, education and capacity building.
HOW TO PREPARE AN ABSTRACT
Papers will be presented in oral and poster sessions and all accepted
papers will be published in the Book of Proceedings. Authors wishing
to submit a contribution should read the following instructions
carefully and send an abstract to the address given below.
The abstract, single spaced in English, should include:
- Applicable subject number (1 to
7 above)
- Full title
- Full name and address of one author for all correspondence
- Full name of each author and co-author, affiliation, address,
phone/fax/e-mail
- Purpose of the work
- Approach
- Scientific innovation and relevance
- Results
- Conclusions
The abstract should not exceed one page (size A4, 210 x 297
mm). In addition, authors may add up to 3 explanatory pages, which
will facilitate the reviewers' assessment. Abstracts with insufficient
information will be rejected.
Only contributions complying with the above specifications and
received by mail will be considered. Please mail 6 hard copies of
this complete information (abstract plus optionally up to 3 explanatory
pages) and a 3,5" IBM formatted diskette or a CD-ROM with a
*.doc or *.pdf file to:

All authors will be notified of the decisions of the selection committee
by the end of December 2001. At the same time, authors of accepted
abstracts will receive special instructions for the preparation
of the final papers for the Proceedings.
