Wind Resources and Its Distribution in China
China
has total reserves of 3226 million kW of wind energy
in an altitude of 10m. It was estimated that the reserves
available for actual development reach 253 million kW.
This figure is larger than the total installed capacity
in the whole country in 1996, indicating that the wind
resources abound in China. However, the reserves available
to be economically developed remain to be further investigated.
The
areas affluent in wind energy mainly distribute in the
grasslands or deserts in northwest, northern and northeast
of China, and coastal areas or islands in east and southeast
China where are generally absent of conventional energy
such as coal. For the time distribution, in the winder
and spring season, the monsoon is heavy and the rain
is small; in the summer, the monsoon is small and the
rain is becoming heavier, which is proven complementarily
to the low water period and high water period of hydropower.
