Popularization and Application of wind-driven water elevator

1.        Drinking Water for Man and Beast

In the remote pastoral area in Inner Mongolia, Ganxu, and Xianjiang, due to the drought climate and insufficient of rain, drinking water supply for man and beast has been proven difficulty. To use the wind-driven water elevator sets to pump the ground water as drinking water supply for man and beast has achieved successful experience. The demonstration in Inner Mongolia in the 1980s indicated that the wind-driven water elevator could supply water in the whole year. Comparing with the lifting powered by diesel engine, the economic benefits for wind-driven water elevator is sound, with the decline of half of the drinking water expense for a beast annually.

2.        Irrigation

In the region of Jiangxu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces, the utilization of wind-driven water elevator for irrigation has a long history. At the early stage, a set of traditional windmill can irrigate the field of 30 to 50 mu. Now, a set of innovative wind-driven water elevator can irrigate the field of 70 to 100 mu, one time increased. The demonstration experiment on the case in Jiangxu irrigated the rice field by wind-driven water elevator proved that a set of FDG-6 type wind-driven water elevator sets can save diesel annually about 174kg.

Except for the irrigation, the wind-driven water elevator can be used to irrigate the lotus root field, discharge alkali by blind drainage, reconstruct of shallows-tidal-flat area, plant the bulrush and improve the grassland.

3.        Salt Processed by Seawater

Salt process by utilizing the wind-driven water elevator has its roots dating back to many years ago. Before the 1960s, in the salt field along the southeast coastal areas, their lifting was mainly powered by windmill. Thanks to the following development on electricity and petroleum industry, most of the windmills were replaced by the electric pump or diesel pump. However, due to the insufficient of electricity and diesel, some of the salt fields resumed to utilize the traditional windmill, among which only in Sheyang salt field in Jiangxu province more than 300 sets of windmill started to utilize again. The results on experiment and demonstration to utilize the wind-driven water elevator to process salt in Sheyang salt field indicated that one set of FDG-5 type wind-driven water elevator can supply water for the salt tank with the area of 22 hectare, equaling to one set of 5.5kW electric pump, with which each year can save electricity of 5000kWh. Except for electricity saving, it can also contribute to increase the production. The total investment on wind-driven water elevator can be reclaimed within 4 to 5 years.

The practice in production also proved that it was viable in technology to utilize the wind-driven water elevator to process salt, and the economic benefits were of great significance. It was worthy to popularize the applications of wind-driven water elevator in salt process in those coastal salt field where was not available for electricity or insufficient of electricity.

4.        Aquatic Cultivation

As the reform and opening, Chinese aquatic cultivation industry has been rapidly developed. The aquatic cultivation is required to replenish water and increase oxygen. The experiment and demonstration showed that one set of FD-7 type wind-driven water elevator can be used to supply water and add oxygen to the fishery field with the area of 7 hectare, decreasing 50% of death rate of baby fish and increasing 30% of annual production of adult fish. Within 3 years, the investment on wind-driven water elevator can be regained. Furthermore, it can play dual function to cultivate the fishery and process the salt at the same time.
