Wind Power Generation Technology

Large Wind Power Generator

1.        Background

Wind power generation resources abound in China among which about 253 million kilowatts are available for development, equaling 1.4 times of the total installed capacity in 1993. It can be supplementary to other energy in distribution of season and geographical position. Wind power generation is one of the renewable energy, which is comparatively economic, and easily to be realized in large-scale commercial production at present. The outline made by ¡°three commissions¡± pointed out the installed capacity of wind power generation in China will reach 1 million kilowatts by 2010. In order to realize this
objective, several hundred sets of 200-500 kilowatt or larger wind power generators will be required. During the period of ¡° the Eighth Five Year Plan¡±, China has developed the 55-kilowatt and 200 kilowatt wind power generators and has introduced the technology of 250 kilowatts wind power generator. At present, the power of single machine exceeds 500 kilowatts for the commercialized wind power generator. Large-scale wind power generators in foreign countries are comparatively advanced in integral technical level, which have been realized its
microcomputer control and no man on duty with high reliability. But the value to introduce generators is rather high, over 10,000 Yuan per kilowatt. In order to develop the wind power sector, it is imperative to be innovative in approaching to realize the industrial production in China on the basis of digestion and absorption of the introduced technology.

2.        Objectives

In order to provide large-scale, reliable and low-cost generating sets for rapid development of the wind power fields, in the period of ¡° the Ninth Five-year Plan¡±, it is imperative to accomplish the manufacturing of the commercialized sample machines of the 200-300 kilowatt wind power generating sets, and to upgrade their rate of nationalization. Focus should be considered on the breakthrough of the technology on the complete machine design, vanes and controllers, making it practical in the technical level and operation reliability of the complete machines and possible in the mass production. Moreover, efforts must be done to develop 500-600 kilowatt wind power generators on the basis of digestion and absorption of the introduced technology and equipment. In making out plans of technologies, in line with the global development trend, technical reservations must be given for the development of the megawatt-grade wind power generators after the year 2000 in order to make it possible to install such capacity of power generator in the wind power fields in early of the 21st century and to form a large wind power market in which the Chinese-made generating sets occupy the majority.

3.        Content

Research and development should be conducted on the complete design of the wind generator and its manufacturing process, design on vanes and its manufacturing process and control technology of the wind power generating sets.

  • Finalize 200-300 kilowatt grade wind power generating sets, upgrade their nationalized rate, realize microcomputer controlling, raise operational reliability (utilization rate reaching 95 per cent) and anti-interference ability, and make it possible in mass production.

  • Develop 500-600 kilowatt grade wind power generating sets

Wind Power Field and Related Technology On Power System

1.        Background

The wind power generation is particular originating from its randomness of wind force, so it is necessary to study the new methods and technology of random power of the generator in the aspects of wind power field decision-making, trend analysis, stability calculating, trouble shooting in the power system, etc. In addition, it still required to investigate centralized monitoring of wind power fields, its interference on telecommunications, and varied interface technology between the wind field and power systems, and the impact of wind power generation on the environment.

2.        Objectives

Unveil the varied laws of technology after the wind-generated electricity connected to the power system. Put forward the technical plans to settle the problems, which may cause the electric power system to deviate from normal operation. Seek the experience on the assessment of the wind power, environment and benefits. Realize to effectively transmit the most possible wind power to the power system and make planning of large wind power fields be programmed and scientific in the development of China¡¯s wind
power sector.

3.        Content

  • Techniques for selecting sites of the wind power fields (conditions and criteria)

  • The optimized arrangement method and control system of the group wind power generators in the wind power fields.

  • Research on operational performance of a single machine of wind power generator, different features of wind speed and optimal choice of the capacity of single machine.
