Priority
Projects for Development
Of the New and Renewable Energy in China
Hydrogen
Energy Technology
1.
Background
Hydrogen
is a clean and high-efficient fuel, which has
been acknowledged as an effective fuel to replace
petroleum. Extensive research has been conducted
in many countries since 1970s. In the recent 10
years, research has been conducted on the hydrogen
production by solar energy and the storage of
hydrogen by some universities and institutions
in China, and progress has been achieved. In the
research on the method of hydrogen production,
different process and technology were adopted
to implement the exploration, including thermal
chemical, photovoltaic analytic method, photolytic
water method and method of bioengineering. Some
results were encouraging.
In
the development of hydrogen storage technology,
a series of magnesium base alloy have been synthesized
by chemical method for the storage of hydrogen.
At the same time, rare earth and ferrotitanium
hydrogen storage materials were used to solve
the problem of smelting of ferrotitanium alloy.
The developed hydrogen storage materials of Ti-Fe-Mn
alloy have been used to manufacture purification
tanks for storage of the 99.9999% high-purity
of hydrogen.
Concerning
the industrial application research of hydrogen,
several experiments have been conducted including
research on ¡°hydrogen burning and power cycle¡±
and ¡°application of hydrogen in space industry¡±,
etc.
2.
Objectives
The
project belongs to a kind of tracing research
aiming at the research on the development technology
of hydrogen energy system, and breakthrough in
the production of hydrogen by the year 2000, and
development of hydrogen storage materials and
hydrogen energy application technology.
